MANILA, Philippines --- An alleged member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) was killed during an encounter with government troops in Barangay Lumbaan Mahaba, Parang town, Sulu at the crack of dawn Thursday, the military reported. The Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) said the troops from the Joint Task Force Sulu conducted a strike operation targeting ASG member Gan Salahudin at 2 a.m. "This resulted in a short firefight that led to the death of the target," the Wesmincom said in a statement.
