PH logs 1,309 COVID-19 infections, highest in 4 months

MANILA, Philippines --- The Department of Health (DOH) logged on Thursday an additional 1,309 cases of COVID-19, the highest recorded in four months, further raising the country's active cases to 7,871. This is the highest number of daily tally recorded since Feb. 25, when 1,671 COVID-19 new cases were reported. According to the DOH's COVID-19 tracker, the new infections also raised the country's caseload to 3,704,407 nationwide, with 3,635,981 recoveries and 60,555 deaths. The new cases were also significantly higher than the average number of infections recorded from June 20 to 26 at 662, as well as Wednesday's recorded number at 781.
