Fisherman rescued after 2 days, 11.5 hours adrift on capsized boat

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Philippines --- After sitting on his capsized boat for two days and 11.5 hours, a fisherman from Bohol province was rescued by a group of fishermen from Southern Leyte on Saturday, Sept. 17. The rescued fisherman was identified as Bimbo Sumonod, a 34-year-old resident of Barangay Lungsod-Daan, Mabini town, Bohol, according to the Eastern Visayas Police Regional Office. Sumunod went to sea at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14. At around 7 p.m., he ran into big waves and heavy rain that caused his motorized boat to capsize.
